Citigroup continues to remake board
There's little doubt that the government has pressed Bank of America and Citigroup to re-make their boards, with an eye on independence and enhanced expertise. Citigroup has just named three new outside directors: Diana Taylor, Timothy Collins and Robert Joss.
Notes the AP, Taylor is the former Superintendent of Banks for the New York State Banking Department; she is also "a companion of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg." Collins is the CEO of investment firm Ripplewood Holdings. Joss is dean of Stanford University 's Graduate School of Business.
It previously had named four outside directors. I would expect some more tinkering at both banks. It remains to be seen what kind of line they will take in relation to Vikram Pandit and Ken Lewis. Some are wondering if Pandit is finding himself isolated.
