Best banks to work at?
When it comes to corporate image, people have been discussing Goldman Sachs' woes in detail. Many think the brand has been tarnished. And in the broad public's eye, it may have suffered a bit. But in the view of corporate customers, it has fared well. The damage following the SEC charges has been contained. According to potential employees--MBAs and others--the company also fared well.
Now comes a piece of research from glassdoor.com that ranks the company as the 17th best company to work for in the United States. That's not necessarily a huge statement; 17th is nothing to brag about.
But the firm was by far judged by its employees to be the best in the financial services industry. And CEO Lloyd Blankfein got a 97 percent approval rating, notes CNBC.
Morgan Stanley came in at 37th overall. Deutsche Bank ranked 48th. Barclays, Bank of America, UBS, Citigroup and Credit Suisse didn't make the top 50.
But, apparently the better places to work were consulting firms. Bain & Company came in at No. 3, Boston Consulting at No. 6, and McKinsey at No. 18.
While banks seemed to have fared poorly, you can rest assured that if the good starts to roll again, workers will feel better about their employers. All in all, people don't place a lot of faith in these sorts of marketing-driven reports. But they are fun!
