Bernie Madoff's biggest secrets
Bernard Madoff ran his empire of fraud off an IBM AS/400 circa 1980s in a room that was overseen by one Frank DiPascali, a 33-year veteran of the firm "with a rough Queens accent and a high-school education," reports Fortune. Few knew what he did exactly, but he was certainly a confidante. He's trying to negotiate a deal with prosecutors, according to the magazine. And he seems willing to name names.
Could this be the breakthrough that prosecutors--and victims--have been hoping for? He may know the biggest secrets, regarding who may have had a hand in running Madoff's fraud. Fortune has lots of color on Madoff. He was odd to say the least, a clean freak who insisted that the furniture be grey or black and symmetrically aligned.
