Well, is he or isn't he? It had been widely reported that Bernie Madoff, who might have orchestrated the biggest Ponzi scheme ever, was cooperating with investigators, but now that seems unclear. The news, from the New York Times, comes amid a rapidly deteriorating relationship between prosecutors and Madoff.

The latest: Madoff and his wife, Ruth, apparently sent packages of jewelry and other valuables worth more than $1 million to his sons, his brother and friends. That may violate terms of his bail. Prosecutors are now asking that he be thrown in jail. Madoff's team says he immediately tried to retrieve the packages once he realized they may violate his terms. Stay tuned.
