Barney Frank vs. Chris Cox
They couldn't be more different. Barney Frank, a stalwart Massachusetts Democrat, is the new head of the House Financial Services Committee. Chris Cox is a button-down Republican ex-congressman from California. You would expect some clashes. Indeed, we've already witnessed one. Frank derided the SEC decision to change the rules on how executive pay is reported as a "gift to the business lobby." Cox, who announced the change just three days before Christmas, has defended the logic of the change: Why report compensation that might not ever be actually received? Cox called Frank to talk about it. The truth is that both men are less ideologically driven than many would assume. There are plenty of tech companies in Massachusetts and California.
