Banker boyfriend from hell

Lots of people think that an investment banker or trader would be a good catch as a boyfriend or girlfriend. They're right in many cases, but wrong in so many others.

MailOnline offers up another sordid banker tale: A JPMorgan investment banker has been convicted in London of harassing his colleague, with whom he once had an affair. The targeted apparently transferred from New York all the way to London to get away from him. Undeterred, the married banker stalked her, relying on some rather bizarre tactics. He deluged her with 176 text messages and 23 emails in 16 hours.

"He even used his key to enter her Onslow Gardens home and take two candlesticks that belonged to his grandmother," according to the article.

Among his ruses, he "falsely said his sister had died and even claimed he was critically ill in a desperate effort to attract her attention." And when officers confronted him at a Park Lane Hotel where she was hiding, "he told them he was an agent for the Israeli secret service." Yeah, right.

This is all rather pathetic and speaks to a man who is truly in need of help. It would be way too pat to suggest that the high-stress world of investment banking attracts or creates this sort of behavior. Bur certainly, the bank does not appreciate this kind of publicity. It will not tolerate this sort of behavior by employees. One can only hope that employees under stress can avail themselves of the employee assistance programs that will reduce this kind of stuff.
