Bank strike looms in India

Could this happen in the United States? Unions are planning a two-day work outage for bank employees in India, to oppose various reforms by the government. Is this a wise move. Here in the U.S., bank critics have been highly successful with other protest tactics, and asking bank employees to stay off the job is tantamount to saying they should volunteer for staff layoffs.
