Another bad bet by Lehman Brothers: Art?
Lehman Brothers was known for its art collection back the day. A lot of that is set to be auctioned soon, notes Fortune. There will be some bargains in the initial round, the likes of David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg are expected to go for under $2,000.
The first 238 lots are being auction by Freeman's, of Philadelphia. Here's a preview of the art. Some more expensive works will be auctioned later this year. All for the benefit Lehman's creditors.
"The modest valuations on these first groups of artworks from the Lehman collection stand in sharp contrast to the priceless art collection once owned by Robert "Bobbie" Lehman, one of the patriarchs of the investment bank," according to Fortune.
