Angry Bank of America customer vents on YouTube

Bank managers should be aware that many customers who have a beef with them are savvy enough to know that the more publicity they bring to their situation, the more likely they are to get a favorable resolution.

We've seen that occur countless times. Of course, the ultimate goal is to get oneself in local newspapers, which tend to be sympathetic to the average Joe or Jane locked in a battle against the big bad bank, especially when the bank clearly botched something, like a wrongful eviction or foreclosure. In the social media era, there are more avenues by which aggrieved customers can attract attention

Case in point: Ken Williams, who lives in the Atlanta area, who was all set to close on a new house. Unfortunately, "for more than 70 days, Williams said he and his wife sat in limbo as Bank of America missed three closing dates on the home they wanted to buy in Decatur. The bank, he said, wouldn't return calls or emails. Staring at a potential fourth missed closing date on Friday and the prospect of being charged daily fees by the seller, Williams vented his frustration in song. Last weekend Williams wrote and recorded a music video he posted Sunday afternoon on YouTube," according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The paper, as part of its reporting of the situation, contacted the bank, which said it would close the deal pronto. However, the story ran and does not paint a flattering portrait of Bank of America.
