Amaranth

For Brian Hunter, it has been an incredible fall from grace. He has entered the rogue's hall of shame, but at least no one is saying he did anything illegal. That's about as good as the news gets. Still, Hunter's trading career went from earning $80 million last year as a hot energy trader for Amaranth to what must have been an awkward resignation this week. Irate investors would certainly like to know what he was thinking when he made his huge bets on a big fall in natural gas prices. Of course, had he bet the other way, he would have been a hero. That's the game. In related news: Amaranth has hired Skadden, Arps to help it deal with investor redemptions and other issues.
