All eyes on the KKR offering

The legendary buyout firm still seems bent on an IPO. Kohlberg Kravis Roberts' latest regulatory filing would suggest it has not given up the dream. You have to wonder what kind of reception it will get. The aftermarket performance of the Blackstone Group has been abysmal, and the future is cloudy to say the least. The threat of higher taxes in the future is not to be taken lightly. KKR's filing said it had hired OB-C Group to lobby the federal government. For some, that is the ideal time to buy in. Then again, the buyout firm isn't exactly cozy with top Wall Street banks. We'll see what happens. If the deal is scrapped, it will truly be a sign that the Golden Era has closed.
