We've all become accustomed to news of more ETF products hitting the market that offer increasingly niche-oriented indexes. Bucking that trend: Dorchester Capital Management has developed an index of all U.S. bonds, stocks and money market funds. Now that's breadth. Such a product might find legs from a customer point of view, but it wouldn't be that hard to use multiple ETFs to get the same exposure. The real difficulty will be at the market maker level--it would require a lot. Still, the ETF market remains very robust. Dorchester Capital may yet find a partner, one with a bold new vision who sees possibilities that others don't.
