Navigating the Hedge Fund Maze - January 2009
The first month of the new year highlighted the major disparities of the hedge fund world in the areas of size and performance. The bottom 10 percent of funds lost more than 58 percent and the top 10 percent gained more than 40 percent, according to Hedge Fund Research. While the hedge fund industry is suffering--and staring down the barrel of reform and regulation--mutual funds have still fared much worse on a performance basis.
