The End: Ramsey left the bank holding company for personal reasons. "Sam has been instrumental in the company's leadership in recent years, including initiatives related to the transition to a bank holding company as well as strengthening the company's capital position during a critical period," said CEO Michael A. Carpenter, in a statement.

According to the Charlotte Observer, Ramsey came out of retirement to joing the company and "was committed to seeing it through a critical time and feels he is leaving Ally in a good position."

Update: After Ramsey's departure, Barbara Yastine was appointed to the newly-created role of chief administrative officer. Ramsey remained at Ally, serving as an advisor on key strategic initiatives.
