The following contribution data was collected from The Center for Responsive Politics. Citigroup showed a particularly drastic fall in contributions, though those made by individuals, as opposed to the Political Action Committee, fell by a far greater percentage, which may also account for the drastic change in party support from strongly Democratic to exactly even.

AIG over the past three election cycles has increasingly contributed more to Democrats, though PAC contributions have bottomed out at zero for the current cycle, suggesting again that individual contributions account for the shift in party support. JPMorgan has also shown a steady trend toward higher contributions to Democrats, though the PAC percentage of contributions is much higher for the 2010 cycle than for 2008.
