Investor Advisory Committee

Website: www.sec.gov/spotlight/investoradvisorycommittee.shtml

Why it exists: The SEC established the IAC to give feedback and guidance on matters regarding investors in the securities markets and provide investor perspectives on non-enforcement regulatory issues. The IAC is also tasked with serving as a source of information and recommendations for SEC regulatory programs. The Committee was sponsored by Democratic SEC Commissioner Luis A. Aguilar

Developments in 2011: The Dodd-Frank Act required the SEC to disband the old IAC. However, the formation of the new IAC is currently on hold due to budget issues pending Congressional approval.
