Tiger Management LLC. Names Gil Caffray Chief Investment Officer
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Julian Robertson, chairman of Tiger Management, LLC, announced today that Gil Caffray would return to Tiger as chief investment officer and a member of the management committee.
Mr. Caffray previously served as Tiger Management LLC. head trader, senior managing director, and member of the management committee. He left Tiger in 2000, after eight years, to co-found FrontPoint Partners LLC, where he was chairman and co-portfolio manager of the FrontPoint Multi-Strategy Fund. Upon the acquisition of FrontPoint by Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) in December 2006, Mr. Caffray became vice-chairman of MSIM. Mr. Caffray later served as chief executive officer of Touradji Capital Management. He remains a special advisor to Touradji.
Mr. Robertson said, “I couldn’t be more pleased that Gil has decided to rejoin Tiger, as we embark on the next stage of Tiger’s development. He is as savvy and experienced and respected an individual as there is in our industry.”
Mr. Caffray said, “I am thrilled to be reunited with Julian and Tiger and look forward to working with him and his new team to help build on this extraordinary investment management franchise and, in particular, the development of its seeding business.”
Last July, Mr. Robertson named former Goldman Sachs executive John Townsend as Tiger’s chief operating officer and he and Alex Robertson as managing partners.
