General Counsel to the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, Gary J. Cohen, Returns to Sidley Austin LLP
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sidley Austin LLP has announced that Gary J. Cohen has returned to the firm as a partner in the firm’s corporate practice after a year-long appointment as General Counsel to the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission in Washington, D.C. Mr. Cohen served with the bipartisan Commission that was created by the Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act of 2009 to examine the causes of the financial crisis that has gripped the country, and to report its findings to the Congress, the President and the American people. The 633 page Report was issued on January 27, 2011.
“Gary devoted the past year working with the members of the Commission and staff, analyzing and reporting on the causes of and the critical lessons learned from the recent financial crisis,” said Thomas A. Mr. Cohen will resume his corporate law practice, focusing on investment advisory matters, private equity and real estate offerings, mezzanine debt transactions, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters. He has counseled registered investment advisors, Boards of Directors and lender groups in reorganization matters.
