Ex-Im Bank and New York Fed to Join Forces Thursday to Help Boost Small Business Exports and Create Local Jobs

Ex-Im Bank Chairman Fred Hochberg, Deputy Mayor Robert Steel, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and New York Fed First Vice President Christine Cumming will Outline How New York Small Businesses can Successfully Compete in Global Economy

New York, N.Y. – The Chairman and President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank), Fred P. Hochberg, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Deputy Mayor Robert Steel, and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn are joining forces to increase the number of New York businesses that export and create local jobs. This event will take place on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the New York Fed. More than 250 small business exporters are expected to attend.

Chairman Hochberg will illustrate how exports are critical to New York's economic recovery and outline New York's 2011 export data. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, more than 190,000 New York jobs are supported by exports. Local small business owners who are successfully exporting their goods and services will also be on hand to provide tips to attendees. Trade finance advisors will be offering free, one-on-one consultations. 

Ex-Im Bank is an independent federal agency that helps create and maintain U.S. jobs by filling gaps in private export financing at no cost to American taxpayers. The Bank provides a variety of financing mechanisms, including working capital guarantees, export-credit insurance and financing to help foreign buyers purchase U.S. goods and services.
