Enhancements Designed to Broaden Active Management and Increase Diversification Potential for Client Portfolios

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Curian Capital, LLC (www.Curian.com) today announced several asset class enhancements that provide financial professionals with a higher degree of active management capability within Curian’s custom-style portfolios. The additions to the Curian platform can help advisors capture additional return potential and provide enhanced diversification on behalf of their clients through actively managed alternative, international equity, real estate and municipal bond asset classes.

“Curian is dedicated to providing financial professionals and their clients with the most effective investment solutions possible to meet their financial goals,” said Michael Bell, president and CEO of Curian Capital, LLC. “Our ongoing commitment to platform enhancements provides financial professionals with a broader range of asset management solutions.”

As part of the asset class enhancements, Curian has launched the Curian Series Trust funds, which give financial professionals access to the expertise of investment management firms including Pacific Investment Management Company, LLC (PIMCO) and Wellington Management Company, LLP (Wellington Management). The Curian Series Trust structure also provides Curian with enhanced information and control over fund flows, complete transparency regarding portfolio holdings and access to key sub-advisor investment personnel.

The new Curian Series Trust funds will include:

  • The Curian/PIMCO Total Return Fund: Actively managed by PIMCO, this fund will be employed in Curian’s Core Fixed Income portfolio and the Tactical Advantage strategies.
  • The Curian/PIMCO Income Fund: This fund will be employed in Curian’s Income Bond portfolio and will also be actively managed by PIMCO.
  • The Curian/WMC International Equity Fund: Curian’s Core International portfolio will include the Curian/WMC International Equity Fund and will be actively managed by Wellington Management.

The new fund additions are the most recent in a series of platform enhancements launched by Curian. In March, Curian rolled out both Research Select Portfolios and Income Dynamic Risk Advantage (IDRA) strategies. The Research Select Portfolios offering provides portfolio allocation guidance for existing Curian solutions to help financial professionals meet multiple client objectives, while also incorporating risk and inflation controls. The Curian IDRA Strategy uses a tactical asset allocation process to shift between a group of higher-risk income-oriented investments and a lower-risk portfolio of high-quality, short-term Treasury investments.

“Through additional diversification and active management within our portfolios, financial professionals can potentially capture additional return for their clients, which is our ultimate goal,” said Chris Rosato, senior vice president of Strategic Development at Curian.
