2011 MIT Sloan CFO Summit to Gather World’s Leading Financial Executives to Explore “Where Finance Meets Innovation”

NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The world’s leading event for chief financial officers, the 2011 MIT Sloan CFO Summit, which brings together financial executives and leading faculty from MIT, will take place on Thursday, November 17th at the Boston Marriott Newton in Newton, MA. The 9th Annual Summit will provide a day of interactive learning and thought-provoking discourse with many of the world’s most accomplished business leaders on the future of finance, business and innovation.

This year’s theme, “Where Finance Meets Innovation,” will focus on expanding revenue and market share in today’s environment, and how the CFO’s responsibilities are at the forefront of innovation. One of the many highlights of this year’s Summit will be General Motors CFO Dan Ammann, who will participate in a “fireside chat” on the one-year anniversary of GM’s successful $23.1 billion initial public offering.

  • The opening of The Summit will include remarks by Nobel laureate Robert Merton, Distinguished Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and a keynote address from Oracle Chairman Jeffrey Henley.
  • The opening keynote session panel, “The Agent of Change,” will be moderated by Bloomberg Television anchor Carol Massar and includes John Martin, CFO, Time Warner; Lynn Good, CFO, Duke Energy; and Bruce Besanko, CFO, OfficeMax.
  • The featured luncheon keynote speaker is Steve Sordello, CFO, LinkedIn.
  • Other workshops and panels offered during the day include “Dealing with the Street: New Rules, New Realities,” “Building a World Class Team,” “Innovative Solutions to Risk Reduction,” “Emerging Technologies in Finance,” “CFO as a Dealmaker,” and “Navigating the Stages of Growth.”
  • The final keynote session of the day will be a “fireside chat” with Dan Ammann, SVP & CFO, General Motors, facilitated by Darren McDermott, Senior Editor, Wall Street Journal.
  • The Summit will end with a cocktail reception and networking session for attendees.
