Did Goldman Sachs broker the A-Rod deal?

The gilded touch of Goldman Sachs can now be felt in major league baseball. New York Yankees fans are perhaps glad that A-Rod has inked a deal with the team after all. Some credit goes to Goldman Sachs, which apparently helped bring A-Rod back to the table. The two most involved according to the Daily News were John Mallory, a managing director with Goldman Sachs, and Gerald Cardinale, a managing director and director of YES, the network of the Yankees. Goldman Sachs owns 40 percent of the YES Network. According to CNBC, most people think Goldman Sachs will seek an exit at some point. There were some rumors that Goldman Sachs intended to pay some of A-Rod's salary, but those appear to be unfounded.
