Analyst gets death threats over Citigroup note
How nasty is the credit crunch getting? Just ask Meredith Whitney, the erstwhile CIBC analyst, whose bearish note on Citigroup prompted a bloodbath in the stock and in the larger market. She basically said Citigroup might have to cut its dividend or sell assets in the face of a $30 billion capital shortfall. That's when the death threats started. She says she has gotten several, which she attributes to shareholders. She is not daunted in the least. In 2005, the budding TV personality married John "Bradshaw" Layfield, aka Death Mask, a former World Wrestling Entertainment champion. He is going into smackdown mode to protect his wife.
