More on Goldman Sachs' indy research effort

We've noted before that the independent research industry is still searching for a hands-down winning business model. Goldman Sachs' Hudson Street Services is certainly worth looking into. Hudson Street buys minority stakes in independent research firms and then distributes the research to its client base, being careful not to tread in areas of proprietary research. Goldman has signed up (and invested in) Asset4, Connotate Technologies and Investars among others. Financial News Online notes that Goldman Sachs is considering whether it should launch the service in Asia and Europe. Some reports hold that Hudson Street has inked deals with a few research firms already. Other top banks are said to be following suit with similar research services.
