Experts say Citigroup is still off course
Citigroup's recent executive shuffle has led some to conclude that the big ship is still off course. Wealth management has been a problem, to which Sallie Krawcheck is apparently the operational solution. But what about the problems that dogged Krawcheck as CFO, she struggled mightily in the role, and many are waiting with keen interest to see who the replacement will be. Expenses and restoring credibility with big shareholders will be two priorities. Another key vacancy is the head of alternative investments, an area where other banks are making great strides. Citigroup has retained Prince Goldsmith, a boutique specializes in financial services executive searches. But an internal candidate may come forward.
