Bank of America expands affinity banking

Bank of America is fairly well known for its affinity credit card programs; it acquired MBNA, which created a model affinity program 25 years ago. Now Bank of America wants to expand the affinity model to consumer banking. It has lined up Habitat for Humanity International, National Wildlife Federation and National Trust for Historic Preservation among others to get the program started. The program will feature checking and savings accounts, better rates on CDs, retirement accounts and partner logos on various products. This seems like a good idea. We'll see if other banks follow suit. The program will start in Chicago, New York City, Dallas and North Orange County, CA before expanding.
