NYSE in talks with TSE

The New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq are going all out for international alliances these days, apart from their ballyhooed efforts to enter the European market. As we noted recently, the Nasdaq has inked a deal with exchanges in China, Japan and Korea for information-sharing type deals. The latest deal was signed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Now comes word that the NYSE is in talks with the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The two are talking about a range of initiatives, including taking equity stakes in one another. Both exchanges have global ambitions. The NYSE certainly would benefit from a presence in Tokyo. The TSE is in talks with other exchanges, but seems focused on the Big Board for the moment.
