Paul Tudor Jones fares well in quant trading

Paul Tudor Jones is not known as a quant. But he entered the field last year and seems to have hit a home run, reports the New York Post. His Tensor fund, run by Steve Evans, has racked up a 19 percent gain, year-to-date. That has put the fund at the top of the class. Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Global Equities Opportunities has slipped a bit, eking out a 1 percent gain. James Simons is also off his game a bit. Renaissance Institutional Equities Fund is down about 4 percent this year. It is notoriously hard for any hedge fund to string together multiple years of above average gains. So we'll have to reserve final judgment. But it does appear that Evans may be the man Jones is looking for. Trading star James Polatta will leave Jones at the end of the year.
